Apply & Discover 11.1

Reflecting back on this course, I am pleased to say there is so much I have taken away with me. I thought that I was well versed with technology and believed that I was doing a great job of integrating it into my classroom. Now I have come to see there are many other things, and lots more tools I can be using to help better my classroom.
I have learned all about Webquest's and the importance they can play in enriching a lesson. They are hands on for both the students and the teachers. When a lesson is hands on, students tend to be more interested and learn without even realizing that they are learning.
My thinking has changed regarding technology use in the classroom in one big way. I have always been for integrating technology into the classroom but after this course I feel like I will be more inclined to integrating as much as possible into my class and being vocal about the importance of technology. Each teacher must know the positives that can come from technology integration and I believe if another teacher steps forward and talks about it, others are more apt to listen and change as well. I believe it is also important to make sure that students are all getting the same education when it comes to technology. Letting all students have access to a computer, printer, etc at school is important because not all students have access at home. This is something teachers need to be aware about when assigning lessons. I always hand out a list of free computer labs around the city that are open to the public so that students can complete projects using technology.
I believe my favorite module from this term was The Online Revolution. I believe that this module was so important because we really took a look at the importance that technology plays in our lives and in our classrooms. I enjoyed that we were able to reflect on the fact that we are currently all enrolled in an online class. I think it was great to look at the positives and negatives from everyone in the class. This module for me was very informative to see what my fellow classmates felt about online learning as well.
This class has been great for me and has really opened my eyes to just how vital integrating all kinds of technology into our classrooms is. I enjoyed my time during this course and thought all the information was well worth learning and implementing on a day to day basis.

Apply & Discover 9.1

Part of being a teacher, is ensuring that all students get the same opportunities as others. Not one student should get any different of an education from the student sitting next to them. I believe we need to provide all students with access to the digital world because it is the world we live in. And all students include any student with a disability. These students should not be looked at like they can not accomplish learning about technology, we might need to change the curriculum a bit but we do that anyways from class to class, grade to grade.
To be a successful teacher, I try to look at what my students abilities are and not there disabilities. And this goes for the students who are labeled with a disability as well. Even though one 2nd grader may be mentally retarded, there is something for them to learn in the digital world. As teacher's we must not forget what our end goal is, to help students learn and grow. Help all students learn and grow.

Apply & Discover 3.2

Creating this Animoto video was real fun for me! I love doing things like slide shows for events and special occasions so this was something I really enjoyed.
I decided to do an Animoto of my fiance and I. We are getting married in June so I have a lot of pictures of us laying around. Enjoy!

Apply & Discover 2.2

After I have reflected on my short paper for Module 1.1 regarding Technology Integration, I have realized that every classroom needs technology but I can really see why my class needs it so badly.
I teach English Second Language in an elementary school. Most of my students are lower income students, who do not have access to much technology (if any) at home. It is my job to teach them and help them grow and part of that is learning technology. I see so many different types of learners each day since all my students come from such different backgrounds. I have realized how my teaching needs to be adapted to each individual class and even each student.
I try to establish different programs that can be used to promote learning for all types of learners. Many of my students are just learning the English language as well as learning how to be students, since I have younger elementary students. It is crucial I watch over them to see what students learn in what ways. Some students are visual, while others are kinestic, and some learn musically.
Technology is wonderful because I can create lessons that are geared towards each student and the way they learn. Lessons become more individualized and I believe this helps students since they are learning the best way they know how. There are so many programs out there to help English Second Language students learn how to read, write, spell. I enjoy letting my students use technology to help further their knowledge because it is hands on and so many students learn best that way. I set up programs specific to each student and where they are at in the learning process.
I am a firm believer that technology only increases students learning, especially in today's world. Mostly I enjoy that lessons can be geared directly to students individual way of learning.
